The AssignmentFor this assignment, I took photos of my dog, Lola. She is 12 years old and a total sweetheart. I aimed to capture her timid yet bright personality through this shoot. My PhotosShutter speed: 1/60 second Aperture: f3.2 ISO: 200 What I LearnedThis shoot was hard because my dog is scared of a lot of things, including cameras. I learned something as a dog owner as well as a photographer, which is how to deal with reluctant subjects.

For this Photoshop challenge, we took pictures of different settings around our school and then had to completely change the context of the location using Photoshop! My favorite holiday is Halloween, so I decided to turn a high school bathroom into a haunted house! Original image Haunted bathroom! What I LearnedI feel significantly more proficient with Photoshop after this assignment. I can use the quick selection tool like a pro! I also learned about using the render function to add different filters, which is how I got the misty effect. Finally, I experimented with hue and saturation to make everything look more mysterious and spooky. This assignment was an absolute blast!
In this assignment, we were given a photo of a car taken by a former student that was good, but could be improved with some retouching. We used the clone, quick selection, and levels tools to make the photo look better. Additionally, we were allowed to make another version of the car that looked however we wanted. Original photo Retouched photo Funky car for fun! What I LearnedI feel a lot more competent with Photoshop after this assignment! I had tried to use the quick selection tool before, and it was really frustrating. Now I can operate it with more ease. I also became good at using the clone stamp tool. I learned a lot overall!
The AssignmentFor this assignment, I captured some photos of the great outdoors. I decided to shoot in my grandparents' house, which is in the middle of the woods. My goal for this photoshoot was to capture the hopefulness of nature in spring, as plants and flowers are just beginning to grow again. My PhotosShutter speed: 1/320 second Aperture: f3.2 ISO: 400 What I LearnedI had so much fun with this shoot! I really loved being in such a peaceful environment and getting to capture its beauty. I did, however, have some problems with overexposure, since it was a bright day when I went out. To fix this problem, I could adjust the aperture and ISO to let in more or less light.
For my second photo assignment, I will be taking pictures of nature. I hope to be able to capture the peaceful ambiance of being in the great outdoors. Here are some photos I will use for inspiration. by Adam Welch by Frederic Demeuse by Magnus Dovline I like these photos because the environments these photographers shot are not especially unique or breathtaking, but they used elements of composition to make them more appealing to the eye.
The AssignmentFor this photo assignment, I took photos of my family! I had a really enjoyable time snapping pics of my family on Easter Sunday and setting up different scenes. My PhotosThis is a photo of my grandmother pointing to her senior picture in her high school yearbook. Shutter speed: 1/50 second Aperture: f4.0 ISO: 800 What I LearnedDuring this shoot, I learned about how difficult it is to find backdrops that are suitable for a clean, clear photo. You can see in the second to last photo that I experimented with Photoshop and blurring to get rid of clutter in the background. In the future, I will think of other ways to prevent clutter in the first place!
In this assignment, we were told to create an Andy Warhol-like effect with a photo of ourself and a random photo. We achieved this by using the filter, guide, threshold, canvas, and layer tools on Photoshop. Here are my photos! What I LearnedIn this project, I became more familiar with Photoshop, especially with the filter and guide functions. I am excited to work more with photoshop in the future!
For my first shooting assignment, I will focus on taking photos of people. I hope to improve on showing personality and liveliness in a photo. Some photos I found online to use as inspiration are seen here: by Tatsiana Tsyhanova by Rosie Matheson by Jason Sluyter I think these photos show the personality of the subject well and isolate the subject from other objects that could be distracting. I'm going to try to take photos of my family at Easter. Hooray!
For this assignment, we had to learn about eleven different techniques of composition to create a more appealing photo (rule of thirds, pattern, symmetry, texture, depth of field, lines, framing, perspective, space, balance, and color). Then, we had to find examples of these around our school and take photos of them! Here are my photos. Rule of ThirdsPatternSymmetryTextureDepth of FieldLinesFramingPerspectiveSpaceBalanceColorWhat I LearnedIn the past, I would take a photo solely for the purpose of capturing whatever I was looking at. This assignment made me think about the positioning of subjects and objects around them. Overall, I have developed more of a skill for making a photo easy on the eyes. I had a lot of fun with this project!
Hi! My name is Ezra Mitchell, and I am a junior in high school. Welcome to my photography blog! In my free time, I like to sing, act, and write. I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my dog!
I am taking a digital photography class because I have always wanted to know how to improve the quality of the photos I take. Additionally, I wanted to be able to try my hand at more advanced equipment than just a cell phone. I have never taken any photography classes before, so I think this will be a fun learning experience! |
